The Carlton is currently undergoing some major construction work, but don't let that put you off. The rooms are all in tip top condidtion following refurbishment and it is just the lobby area that is being worked on. For the happy traveller this means hugely discounted rates up until spring 2002. The hotel is easy to find at 22 East 29th Street New York, NY 10016, on the corner of Madison Avenue. The reason for the construction work, and the upcoming price hike, is that the hotel is building a new front door facing onto Madison, meaning that by the summer this will be 'The Carlton on Madison Avenue'. This move to a landmark address is likely to ... Read the complete review

It took me a while to find a hotel for when I was in New York. What I really wanted was the Holiday Inn for about $50 a night, but since that didn’t seem possible, I had to search around a bit. Eventually I stumbled upon the Belnord and although it didn’t have its own website, and info on it was limited, I booked it anyway on a whim. Now that I’m back, I’m glad I did. The average price for a hotel room in New York at the moment is $150 (and this is low, lol, with tons of prices having been reduced in the wake of September 11th). I paid $71 per night which included all taxes of which there were a handful, which seemed quite reasonable ... Read the complete review

RAMADA PLAZA & INN - NEW YORKER HOTEL. Our second honey was going to be one to remember. I was gobsmacked walking through the revolving doors into the Ramada Plaza & Inn - New Yorker Hotel, New York City. We had expected something quite shabby as it was a last minute deal through expedia.co.uk whilst sitting in Manchester Airport waiting for our flight to arrive. (Talk about last minute). The hotel can arrange airport transfers in the form of a limousine service, they cover JFK Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Newark and LGA. The cars range from a comfortable 4 seater limousine to an overside SUV limousine. Of course this is at a price, it ranges from ... Read the complete review

The hotel I stayed in during my three night trip to New York was the Milford Plaza. It was one of several I considered when looking online and in the brochures but the decision was made by the location of the hotel. It was literally round the corner from times square which has got to be the heart of New York. We booked our flight and hotel seperately on expedia and the Milford Plaza was one of the cheaper hotels and was only a 2/3 star. The more expensive and arguably better hotels seemed to be further away and we planned to do lots of walking. The hotel was within walking distance of the Empire State Building. I think a hotel is only needed to provide a base ... Read the complete review

The Bentley Hotel -- 500 East 62nd Street at York Ave I have two very strong words for this hotel ... under rated and under priced. This is one of my favorite hotels in NYC. I stayed there is August of 2001 under unpleasant circumstances and, to me, it by far the best hotel I have stayed in. Now why you ask well read below: 1) Valet parking - Inexpensive $20 for 24 hours and can take your car in and out as much as you won't 2) Roof top restaurant and lounge with outdoor terrace. Excellent food, billing to you room, rather inexpensive food and drinks and great views of the the city. A must see if you stay at this hotel. 3) A ... Read the complete review
