The room was quite basic to be honest but was neat, tidy and clean, included was a desk and chair, hair dryer, iron and board and cable TV, erything we would need after a long day of sightseeing. After two nights of getting woken up at about 3am by radiators clunking we went down the reception staff and asked if they could turn our radiator off in a bid to get a full nights sleep. They did more than that, they transferred us to the 20th Floor and into a new room (A ...more

Premium Review Hotels in New York in general: Carlton Hotel - Madison & 29th (715 words)
by gollygumdrops - written on 05/01/02 (Very useful, 770 readings)
Rating:

The Carlton is currently undergoing some major construction work, but don't let that put you off. The rooms are all in tip top condidtion following refurbishment and it is just the lobby area that is being worked on. For the happy traveller this means hugely discounted rates up until spring 2002. The hotel is easy to find at 22 East 29th Street New York, NY 10016, on the corner of Madison Avenue. The reason for the construction work, and the upcoming price hike, is that the hotel is building a new front door facing onto Madison, meaning that by the summer this will be 'The Carlton on Madison Avenue'. This move to a landmark address is likely to ...

Premium Review Half Price Hotel Heaven (872 words)

It took me a while to find a hotel for when I was in New York. What I really wanted was the Holiday Inn for about $50 a night, but since that didn’t seem possible, I had to search around a bit. Eventually I stumbled upon the Belnord and although it didn’t have its own website, and info on it was limited, I booked it anyway on a whim. Now that I’m back, I’m glad I did. The average price for a hotel room in New York at the moment is $150 (and this is low, lol, with tons of prices having been reduced in the wake of September 11th). I paid $71 per night which included all taxes of which there were a handful, which seemed quite reasonable ...

Premium Review Hotels in New York in general: RAMADA PLAZA & INN- NEW YORKER (616 words)
by stephy28 - written on 09/09/08 (Very useful, 24 readings)
Rating:

RAMADA PLAZA & INN - NEW YORKER HOTEL. Our second honey was going to be one to remember. I was gobsmacked walking through the revolving doors into the Ramada Plaza & Inn - New Yorker Hotel, New York City. We had expected something quite shabby as it was a last minute deal through expedia.co.uk whilst sitting in Manchester Airport waiting for our flight to arrive. (Talk about last minute). The hotel can arrange airport transfers in the form of a limousine service, they cover JFK Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Newark and LGA. The cars range from a comfortable 4 seater limousine to an overside SUV limousine. Of course this is at a price, it ranges from ...
