I have stayed in a few hotels in Orlando and the general area. But the best places I have stayed in by far is a villa located in Poinciana which is just south of Kissimmee. The particular villa I stayed in was owned by a couple who rent it out privately, but there are many other, similar properties to choose from in almost any location within Orlando and Kissimmee areas.
The villa stands on a quarter acre plot in a quiet residential road. It can sleep up to 8 people. It is approximately a 30 minute drive to Disney and central Orlando. The drive is very beautiful and easy. There are no homes on either side or rear of property so it is completely private and not overlooked.
The house is fully air conditioned and has a security alarm system as well as a fire detection system and is in a neighbourhood watch area. The property consists of:-
Lounge (18’x12’). This room has a typical Floridian décor – light and airy with a two sofas, chairs, coffee table and a bay window to the front garden.
Dining Room (10’x9’). Table and chairs and sliding patio door to pool area.
Family Room (22’x13’). Sofa which pulls out to a double bed, love seat, coffee tables, table & chairs in breakfast area, sliding door to patio area, satellite TV.
Kitchen (10’x9’). Electric cooker, hob, microwave, fridge freezer, ice maker, dishwasher, kettle, mixer etc. I also has all the cutlery etc.
Master Bedroom (16’x13’) Queen size bed, rocking chair, dressers, drawers etc, patio door to pool. Dressing room entrance.
Master Dressing room/bathroom (14’x10’) Large walk in shower – big enough for two! Vanity mirror, twin basin, closets and separate WC.
Bedroom 1 (11’x10’) Twin beds, drawers, table, walk in closet
Bedroom 2 (13’11’) Twin beds, drawers, closet
Bathroom (8’x7’) WC, bath, shower, vanity unit, door to pool deck.
Garage/Utility ro
om Double garage with washing machine, tumble dryer etc
Pool Area. Large pool (28’x14’) surrounded by pool deck, patio area, loungers, chairs & BBQ. This area is covered by a fine mesh so you won’t be bothered by flies etc. It is totally private and not overlooked.
Local amenities include Poinciana golf club - open to non members, tennis courts, restaurant. Poinciana itself has many sporting areas i.e. tennis, softball, basketball and a children's play area. Lake Toho is close by where you will find picnic areas, air boat rides - see the alligators and general sightseeing. Horse riding is also available. There are 4 or 5 shopping complexes within a 20 minute drive.
We found it very relaxing to stay here are you are not governed by when the cleaner will arrive and there is no disturbance from other guests etc. We could come and go as we pleased and eat wherever we wanted, be it home cooked in the villa or out at a local restaurant. The kids loved it, having their own bathroom etc.
We loved it here and would thoroughly recommend staying here. Costs are approx £350-450 per week depending on duration and season. Anyone seriously interested, please let me know via the comment section and I can forward contact details for rental.
