Advantages: Cheap and cheerful

Disadvantages: Not the height of luxury

This hotel is not luxurious but it is cheap, and the location is very good for getting into the centre of Paris. Situated in the Latin (5ème) quarter (see separate review), it is a stone’s throw from the Luxembourg gardens, and there are good RER and bus connections. The hotel has single, double and triple rooms, with or without shower and ensuite WC. The breakfast is not spectacular (baguette, croissants, coffee/chocolat chaud), but it is perfectly OK and you won’t be able to get a reduction for declining it – they insist it is included. There is a wide variety of prices, but for a high-season double room you can expect to pay 250-350 F. No credit cards. Book at least a week in advance – tel. 01-43-54-23-96. And make sure you have lots of fun with the “gay loose sack” wisecrack – how we laughed.
