To our suprise the room was made up by housekeeping everyday, even folding my clothes and putting them under the pillow. Maybe this is normal, but i've never stayed in a hostel before. Room wasn't too noisy, except for the internet access being in the same corridor, and you could actually hear the tap-tapping of the keyboard, and people talking. We didn'...more

Crowned Review Hotels in Rome in general: Hotel Trastevere - Rome (786 words)

This is a review of the Hotel Trastevere, which we had the pleasure of staying in for three nights during the preparations for the Pope’s funeral at the beginning of April. About Trastevere Located in one of the most picturesque parts of Rome the hotel is a short walk away from the Basilica di Santa Maria which is a beautiful place of worship and well worth a visit. For our stay we were looking for an affordable base camp that was away from the noise of the centre but still within walking distance of the major attractions. Trastevere is ideal as an area as it is located over the river from the centre and to the south of the Vatican area ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review When in Rome.....Part 2 (2534 words)

In Rome, there are literally hundreds of hotels to choose from. As with any accommodation, there are the usual star ratings which are provided to give you a guide as to the quality of the establishment. The subject of cost is quite a tricky one. Pick a hotel right in the historic centre and you will inevitably pay more for your stay. Opt for one a little bit further afield and you?ll find that the prices drop dramatically. You could choose the best room in a top hotel and pay 900 Euros per night for the privilege, or go for a 1 star B&B and only pay 20 Euros for a night. It all depends on your budget, how far ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Hotels in Rome in general: A good cheap hotel ;) (553 words)

When youre a cash strapped student on a mission to explore the world, the main priorities in a hotel are... 1) Is it safe ??? 2) Location. Are transport and amenities at hand ??? 3) Is it clean (most hotels in Italy are meticulously clean anyhow) Ive visited Rome twice. First time was completely unplanned, and I was prepared to party 2 nights in a row. Luckily one of us spoke a bit of italian from school and managed to link a really nice spot for the night. It used to be called "La Luna" and its 3 minutes to Termini station on a main road (Via Marsale number 80 something) I do not claiming this to be anything special with ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review It's nicer at the Isa! (668 words)

After seeing several TV programmes featuring Rome, and having always wanted to visit, my fiancé and I decided to take the plunge and book a short break. I took advantage of some bargain Ryanair flights (£4.99 each) to fly out Thursday morning and back on Saturday evening. We flew from Stansted on a new 737-800 to Rome?s Ciampino airport. This is not the main airport in Rome, but the advantage of flying to a smaller airport is that it is so much quicker to collect luggage and get on your way. A shuttlebus service (13 EURO return) by a company called Terravision, runs to Termini railway station, which takes about 30 minutes. From there we were parted with too much of our ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Hotels in Rome in general: Roam off in Rome!! (670 words)

These are my 4 favourite hotels to stay in in Rome. Contilia Hotel: The Contilia Hotel (3*) is in the heart of the historical center of Rome, a few steps from the Colosseum, the Basilica of St Mary Major and the Roman Forum. With the centrality to many of Rome?s tourist attractions this hotel offers a good basis to explore Rome to it?s fullest. The hotel is also only about 100 metres from the central train terminal, near the main taxi terminal and only 25 kilometres from the international airport. The hotel offers a wide range of facilities including bar, car rental, coffee shop, room service and a television in all rooms. It?s also good to know ...  Read the complete review
