Disadvantages: Swaying in the breeze

The Grand Hyatt is situated in the centre of San Francisco near Union Square. That's quite a handy location for shopping and eating, and it's quite easy to get on to the 101 from there.

It is quite a tall building, and quite old too. For this reason there are notes in the room telling you that the swaying of the building and the associated noise are quite normal and nothing to be worried about!

The rooms are a bit on the small side by American standards (about two thirds of the size of the rooms at the Hyatt Regency at San Francisco Airport), but are decorated and furnished very nicely. The big selling point for me is that they have TV's in the bathrooms.

I did not try the evening food here, but the room comes with a voucher for a simple breakfast. This was a very basic breakfast, but well worth having because the restaurant is on the top floor and you get a superb view all over the bay area.

The hotel only has valet parking, which I am against, but in such a built up area it is almost inevitable.

Summary:
