The Allson Hotel on Victoria Street, right in the centre of the city is a business class hotel. It does not have much character to it at all, but is clean efficient, spacious and boasts a roof top swimming pool, japanese and chinese restaurants and health centre.
The staff are not particularly friendly but they are mostly helpful and polite. The best thing about this hotel is its position, right next door to it is the Victoria hotel which is a much older, cheaper and fairly delapidated hotel which may be ok if you are on a really tight budget, but if you want a good standard priced hotel then the Allson is really good. It is one block away from Raffles hotel, and right in the colonial core within walking distance to raffles city MRT, Raffles City shopping centre, Chijmes, clarke quay and boat quay. There is also a bus stop right outside with routes to little india and china town.

The hotel food is not very good value, buffet breakfast was £8, which when you consider that you can have an excellent dinner for about £10-£12 and breakfast in starbucks, cafe cartel or delifrance all in nearby raffles city for a fraction of the price, the hotel food is best avoided.

I would recommend this hotel, simply becuase of its prime location, and for the price and standard of accomadation there is no better hotel in the location.
