Advantages: Friendly staff, great food, lovely hotel

Disadvantages: None

I went to this hotel a year ago, and I could say that this is one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka. We set off from Colombo in the morning, and had lunch in a town called Kurunagale (don't remember the name of the place we had lunch at). On our way we saw 3 elephants which is not very uncommon while travelling to Habarana or that side of Sri Lanka. We got to the hotel at around 3.30pm. Driving into the hotel I could tell that I was going to have a memorable holiday here. The reception area was a large airy area, checking in didn't take too much time and the hotel staff were very friendly. We got our welcome drink and were taken to our rooms.

The garden was out of this world, with huge trees all over the garden, ponds, tree houses, bird trails, squirrels, monitors, birds, monkeys etc. When we got to the room, the rooms too were big and spacious like everything else in the hotel. The room we stayed in was a chalet on the first floor. Each chalet has 6 rooms, and the chalets look gorgeous from outside. The room had a large bed on an elevated surface with bedside cupboards on either side of it with a lamp on top of each cupboard. The rooms were very nice and had a pleasant and uncluttered look. The bathrooms too were large and nice.

The restaurant too was big and quite airy specially towards the side of the pool. The food was really good, with Sri Lankan and continental meals. I usually like to have a mixture of both, and must say both tasted really good. The desserts were delicious, one thing I loved about this hotel was the area where they had the desserts. I thought it was quite unique that they had the dessert in a separate glass room.

The swimming pool is right outside the restaurant and is quite big too. And there is a table tennis table too around that area, I remember this well as I was just learning to play and the ball was hitting all over the place but my racket and I got a good work out trying to pick up the ball :)

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, specially the long walks in the garden. I will definitely go back to this hotel again someday.

Summary: Highly recommended, will go there again

Hello Carcraig,

I'm just seeing your message. When I went to this hotel the price was less than 15,000 Sri Lankan rupees, I don't remember the exact price. Here is the website for the hotel, contact info and all other useful info is in it - http://www.johnkeellshote ls.com/ If you plan on visiting Sri Lanka you might be interested in the partner hotels and the offers for Cinnamon Lodge and the other hotels, check this link http://www.johnkeellshote ls.com/

I'm hoping to write a review on Colombo soon, I hope you will find that useful too.
