====== BEST WESTERN BACKGROUND INFO ====== The company although an international one, all of their hotels and inns are independantley owned and operated but however rooms may be reserved through the normal channels: direct, travel agents or on-line services, I used expedia to reserve my room along with my flight. (see my expedia op)Room rates are established by the owner or operator so therefore some rates may vary from location to country. They offer 6 types of locations for their properties: Downtown- In a central city/business district Intown - In the city between fringe of central shopping or business district Suburban- In a suburb or finge of city Airport - Self Explanatory Highway - On or near a federal, state highway Resort - A destination All accomodation is rated by AAA(US equal to UK AA) from 1 diamond upto 5(being best) I recently stayed with Best Western Hotels on my recent trip to Toronto which as those of you who have read my most recent op on Air Canada will know it was a trying time for me. The hotel I stayed in is the BW-Metro Inn located on the East side of the downtown area of Metropolitan Toronto. Approximately 10km from the main tourist attractions. The main reason I wanted to stay out of the main downtown area was mainly for peace and quiet as I was only hotelling for two nights whilst adjusting to the time difference. As I missed my connecting flight from Montreal to Toronto(see Air Canada op) I called the Hotel to let them know I would be a late check-in, thsy said this would be no problem and would look forward to seeing me soon. ======= CHECK-IN ======= On my arrival at the hotel I was suprised to see evne though it was classed as an Inn it still looked like any major downtown hotel. The hotel clerk had all my paperwork completed and ready for me too sign and had my bags brought to my room. ======= THE ROOM ====
=== On entering my room the heating had been turned on prior to my arrival which was a god send as it was -10 outside with a wind chill factor of -24 so I really appreciated the nice touch. Even though travelling alone my room consisted of two twin beds, cable TV consisting of 57 channels!, Coffee Making machine, Two armchairs, desk, wardrobe, telephone en suite bathroom/shower and lots more. The general decor of the room was quite nice and welcoming with a hint of tudor style to it's decor. An even better touch was that the coffee machine was already brewing fresh coffee! Such a personnal thing that stood out! ======= FACILITIES ======= The hotel itself was quite well looked after in terms of fixtures and fittings, a small dining area that just offered a complimentary continental b'fast, heated indoor swimming pool and laundry service. It was even mentioned that if ever you needed to go downtown in the mornings the GM always left around 11am and would be happy to give you a ride as he goes that way home.A small childs play area was located to the rear of the lobby. ======= PRICES ======= I booked my room with expedia so got a really good rate of CAN$65 per night for 2 nights which is approximatly £32 per night inc of local taxes. I compared this rate with another BW hotel in the downtown area and found they are almost double. I would certainly use them again as for the price you get a good deal and nice environment to relax in.
