Advantages: the experience

Disadvantages: the experience if you choose wrong

I travelled to Dnipropetrovsk in the East of Ukraine several times last year. On the map look for the middle of nowhere and then turn left to the back of beyond. The city of Dnipropetrovsk is on the banks of the Dnieper river and is in need of much investment. As such hotels are of variable quality
I stayed on my first visit at the Hotel Dnipropetrovsk which was described to me by my host a "soviet style hotel" and even though I had a business room if I had a choice I would have moved on I understand when I got to my room why they made you pay on arrival. The fridge in the room was empty and looked like it had been picked up from the local dump. The bathroom was yuk I was there three days and did not use the shower once.

My subsequent visits I stayed at teh Grand Hotel and boy was it grand at over $250 USD per night plus breakfast. Hotel was to good western standard even had free wifi access which is rare in Europe ( the free bit )and I would stay there again but I cannot imagine a reason to stay in Dnipropetrovsk again other than for work
