Advantages: Nice staff, Quiet rooms if you want that, Breakfast good

Disadvantages: some small rooms, make sure you don't get one!

The Hotel Pausania has three stars and is a pleasant place to stay. It is next to a canal so no surprises there! The feeling of security that you have in Venice after dark means that there is no problem walking to and from the Hotel and it is near the Academia Bridge.
It was a 14 Century castle and retains some of the features including the original well in what was the courtyard.

The staff were friendly, helpful and supplied quite a good basic but free map.

The Hotel has air conditioning, Sky TV (Sport, CNN and BBC World, i.e. three channels in English) and the windows had shutters that were light and sound proof, they even kept out the dawn chorus and the day time bells.

On the first of the three nights we stayed my wife and I were put in a small bedroom with two single beds but when we had left our luggage and came down to reception, before saying anything we were promised a larger room for the next day, which was duly supplied and appreciated.

Mini bar prices aren't bad by UK standards, 2 Euro for almost everything but as you would expect phone charges are high. It seemed that the Hotel bar was run on the same basis as the mini bars, at the same prices.

The only food served is continental breakfast but this is good quality.

All in all, very good after the initial tiny room aberration was voluntarily settled.

This Hotel features in several package deals, e.g. Thomas cook Signature and the price seems good value.....for Venice!
