If you are visiting central Vienna at someone elses expense, then you could do a lot worse than stay here. The position is great, being on the Stephansplatz, which is really the focus of all the touristy bits of Vienna. The tourists can be a bit annoying, but they don't turn up first thing in the morning, and they are gone by midnight. It's a smallish hotel 4*, and the staff were surprisingly helpful and friendly. Breakfast is served in a first floor restaurant, and there is an ample buffet. During the meal, a waiter sidles up, and whispers in a conspiratorial voice "Youwanhamaneggs?". If you are setting up in Vienna and are planning on staying and finding a flat, then I would recommend checking into Haus Döbling, in Gymnasiumstrasse in the 19th. Not only is it cheap, ATS 2700 per month, although you can only book for calendar months, safe, and has all the necessary facilities, but there are other facilities such as a computer room, with internet access, and there are registration periods fortnightly. The price is excellent, as it works out cheaper than any hotels, and is a useful base for you to get flathunting and jobhunting. There are always rooms available, but beware teh check times with the Verwaltung 8-10 (weekdays) in the morning and 2-4 ... Read the complete review
