Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Nothing special

I visit Geneva very often for business reasons and I normally stay at the HOtel Wilson or the Hotel La reserve.

However, if I want to remain in town during the weekend under my own account, I need to find something cheaper than the above mentioned hotels.

I know Ibis and I have used many times.

In August the city of Geneve runs the so called Fetes de Geneve, 10 days of parties and it is very difficult to find a place to sleep during this period. Virtually all the hotels are fully booked.

I had reserved the above Ibis 2 months in advance, the other Ibis, which is downtown and very close to the train station was already fully booked. I had booked a Thursday and Friday night since I then planned to travel in the Alps during the weekend.

The Hotel is close to the airport, although it is not walking distance. I was staying with my boyfriend and we had booked a car with Avis, so we drove there, however we noticed that there was a shuttle service to the airport with regular departures advertized in the lobby of the Hotel.

We paid the equivalent of 82 Euros per night for a room with a double bed. You pay for the room and not by person, so if you book for yourself the price is the same.

The Hotel is clean and if you have already been to a Hotel Ibis you will find the usual amenities. The room is quite minimalist, there is a TV a shower room with 2 very small soaps and just enough towels. I missed not having a dry blower. The bed was hard enough, but like in many other Ibis, if you are taller than 1.85 cm you may find it a bit cramped. The wardrobe was small for the 2 of us, I managed to hang all my stuff and hubby left his stuff in the lugagge.

Breakfast, again, is the standard breakfast you have at Ibis, one kind of cheese, one kind of ham and marmelade, croissants and bread, and juices and tea and coffee. All of this as much as you like.

There is a tram taking you to town. We took a taxi only once and it cost us around 15 Pounds to go to the centre of Geneve.

Overall, I counted myself lucky that we found this hotel and actually it turned out that because of the car we had hired, it was better to stay out of town, but unless you need to be close to the airport, I do not see why you should stay at this Hotel if you wish to visit Geneve.

Summary: Not the best location
