Advantages: Location and price

Disadvantages: Faded glamour

My friend and I stayed at the Imperial Palace for 3 nights on a recent road trip when another friend got married in Vegas. Both of us had stayed in Vegas before (at Flamingos and Stratosphere) and this hotel did not match them really, it has a grimy kind of feel to it rather than the usual glamour of vegas.

The room however, was fine - clean and large with a balcony, it was also very quiet and we had no problem sleeping, it was so quiet we were rather surprised given the central strip location but our room was right at the end of a corridor which could have been why. Our balcony overlooked the pool so from 10am every day there was music but other than this no noise.

The location is what makes this a great base in Vegas, right next door to Harrah's and across from Ceasar's Palace, within a 10 minute walk to Fashion Show Mall, TI, Bellagio, The Venetian, Mirage and Paris Las Vegas. We didnt eat at any of the hotels own reataurants as when we checked out the menus we figured we could probably pay less for a nicer setting and we were right.

We did not gamble in the casino here as it just felt kinda jaded and tacky and if you werent gambling the bars were pretty expensive. I would stay in this hotel again because it was great value for the location - but just dont expect much from the hotel in general.

Summary: Great for somewhere to sleep in Vegas

I loved Vegas but it was around 20 years ago I last went and I'm told it's changed a lot since then!

Friends have stayed here before on a joint trip to Vegas and yes, you're right, it's a bit grim x
