Advantages: Nice rooms, friendly staff, good food

Disadvantages: Slightly expensive, location, room service could be better, singles are VERY small

While the K+K Opera is generally a very nice hotel, as a single visitor I was twice given the smallest rooms on the premises. Still, the rooms are nice, the food is good, the staff is generally very helpful and the free internet in the lobby - while they only have four computers - is a great thing for those traveling without their laptops. Although this hotel is not right in the center of town, it is well located and with easy access to public transportation.

Single visitors like me, might get the tiniest of rooms at this hotel. The rooms are nicely designed and they do seem very clean. I got a tiny single bed which I found was pushed up against a wall. What's more, the TV was positioned to face the wall opposite the bed, and I had to turn it to watch comfortably, since the chair at the desk wasn't meant for that. My other problem was that the room service wasn't as good as it could have been. I'm allergic to feather pillows and it took me four calls to get them to bring me synthetic ones. Not good! My look into the larger rooms however, showed me that being there on your own is a true disadvantage, as the double rooms are very spacious, with large beds and look very comfortable.

This hotel isn't much to look at from the outside, stuffed as it is in the middle of a side street. But the lobby is nice enough and it has been well looked after. Both my stays at this hotel showed me their upkeep is fine. This isn't much of a hotel for business people but the four computers in the lobby with internet are free for anyone's use, which I got a good deal out of since I didn't have a laptop with me.

As for the food, this is where this hotel shines. While I was only B&B, the breakfast was really wonderful with a very large variety. The food was excellent and very fresh - except one time when I found the tomato juice was off, which the staff replaced immediately. The dining room is very nice and the staff wonderful.

While a bit off the beaten path, this isn't all that far from the center of town, and I found I could walk to most places I wanted to get to. The underground is very close by and it is very easy to get yourself around. But the advantage here is that I never had any problem with noise at all.

In all, I'll give the K+K Opera Hotel Budapest four out of five stars and recommend it. I only wish that the room service was a touch better, but with nice rooms, friendly staff and good food, at the price of about 80-100 Euros during the summer for a double room, you could certainly do worse. It isn't the cheapest hotel around, but for the most part, I think you'll get what you pay for.

I just stayed at a K+K in Prague and it was lovely, the breakfast especially!

It's about average this price in Budapest, I think, isn't it? Last time I paid 70 euros slap bang in the centre. What I did think was expensive was the price of drinks in the hotel - London prices.

Good point about noise, centrally located hotels can get noisy at the weekend nightimes.
