Very good overall (Lake Manyara Hotel (Tanzania))

Advantages: Brilliant views and great location

Disadvantages: Paper thin walls

This was the first of the three Hotels and Lodges (T) Ltd group that we stayed in during our Feb/March 2009 trip. It wasn't the best but it defiantly wasn't the worst that we stayed in.
They were doing some work while we were there but this didn't affect our stay as the noise was minimal.
The room (No 88) was minimal but clean and we were happy with the facilities overall. The view from our room was great with a clear view of the Lake from our balcony.
We arrived quite early in the day and thought that we might go for a swim in the pool but decided against it when we saw it....it did seem like it hadn't been cleaned in months with lots of green algae on the sides - certainly not suitable for swimming. So we had some drinks at the pool bar instead.
The dinner was lovely with buffet service and lots of different varieties of food, they had some red snapper which was the best fish I have ever tasted!
They also had some Massi dancing and singing in the evening which was nice to watch out on the terrace after dinner.
The other bad thing about this hotel was the fact that you could hear EVERYTHING in the room next door. We had a nice noisy couple in the room next door to us so we couldn't sleep until they did which was annoying.
Overall I would recommend this lodge as a base for your Lake Manyara safari, however I wouldn't recommend staying any longer than one night as the facilities are limited and the walls are so paper thin it might be difficult to sleep.
