Was a Fiat car factory - now a very good hotel (Le Meridien Lingotto Hotel Turin)

I've stayed at this hotel on 3 occasions, twice for one night and once for two nights. All times it was in business and, as a I got the corporate rate, I can't comment on the value of the non-discounted tarrif.

The hotel itself is interesting - it was a Fiat plant and is famous for having the test track on the roof (remember The Itialian Job? That's the factory that's now the hotel).

The rooms are very modern, but, because the building is an old car factory, the ceilings are quite high so you do a sort of double-take when you first enter one. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean (and the water hot). Usual busines hotel - 30 TV channels only 2 in English - CNN and BBC word service.

Dinner in the hotel resturant is quite good and the staff are attentive without making you feel rushed, but a bit pricey Only used it once, the other evening went out and sampled some of the many fine resturants in the city.

The hotel is convenient if you're visiting Fiat, but for tourists, it may be rather further from the city centre than you'd like. I took a cab each time, taking about 10-15 minutes (and after that I'll never drive in Turin).

Overall, if you're in Turin on business, definately recommend it. If you're a tourist, well, I like to be a bit more relaxed when I'm not at work.
