Advantages: Unique, Enormous, Loads to do, Fabulous food

Disadvantages: Easy to get lost!

I visited this hotel a few years ago, and I would love to go there again. It was the most unique hotel I have ever visited, as it was shaped like a pyramid and the complex was enormous. Las Vegas is unique in itself and a great place for tourists. Every hotel seems to be linked, whether you can actually walk through an underpass from one hotel to the next or get a train. This hotel was simply magnificent, and having visited many of the others, I was proud to be staying in The Luxor.

You may know that Luxor is a place in Egypt. This hotel is based on that place, and is all in the Egyptian style. For a start, the main hotel is shaped as an enormous pyramid. There is a giant Sphinx that sits in front of the hotel too. Either side of the hotel, there are two more towers with more rooms. In total, there are 4,407 rooms! This is an enormous number of rooms for a hotel. The pyramid itself has an extremely bright and large laser light coming out at night. This was great when I was there as I always knew how far away I was from the hotel, so I knew how long it would take to get back. Apparently, this laser can even be seen from space, which is quite believable actually. It is factual that this light can be seen from flight level over Los Angeles, California, which is over 275 miles away! It is the brightest beam in the world.

My room was magnificent. It had everything I needed and a wonderful view. I was staying in the pyramid itself on around the 20th floor. The view even from the balcony outside the room was stunning, as you could see right across and see all the other floors that got smaller as the pyramid grew larger. Looking down, you could see the gigantic lobby complete with the casino, IMAX theatre and many more attractions including restaurants such as McDonalds!

The lobby was just amazing, because it was so large. Walking round it would take ages, and there were many staircases to get to different bits. It was actually a really easy hotel to get lost in, so I would watch your children if you go there if I was you! The casino went right across the middle of the lobby, and you needed to be 21 to play in there. They didn't even like children walking through, but I did see some quickly get through at times. However, you really aren't allowed to step in the Casino if underage, and they are quite strict on this. The casino contains every game imaginable - Craps, Blackjack, Poker, Slot machines and more fun games. I did actually end up walking away with a profit of $20, so I just left after that.

The dining is incredible. There is a buffet of enormous size that you can walk to in the hotel complex. This buffet was open for Breakfast and Dinner, and offered loads and loads of food of every kind imaginable. You could get whatever you wanted! They did all kinds of meats, cheeses, bread and it was all included if you were staying at the hotel.

As for entertainment, there were loads to keep you entertained. There were shows in the theatre such as the incredible Blue Man Group; however these shows have changed now with more recent ones. The IMAX theatre was amazing, and I actually went there on the first day. It felt like about 1am because I was so jet-lagged, but I still enjoyed the amazing experience of this. There are actually rides and other attractions in and around the lobby.

There is a large sized pool, but this was awfully busy when I was at the hotel. There are plenty of taxis, trains and other forms of transport to get around Las Vegas, and you can even walk from hotel to hotel using tunnels under ground. One thing that I found really weird about the hotel were the lifts. You had to get to your room somehow, so you take the diagonal moving lift if course! It felt really weird, as you had no idea which way you were moving, but it just felt weird.

As for prices, you can get a Pyramid Deluxe Room for $79.99, a Tower Deluxe Room for $99.99 or a Tower Luxury Suite for $179.99 per night. This would be for February, but prices do change and get more expensive as the year goes on. For such a fabulous experience, these prices aren't bad at all. All of these rooms are Deluxe and have everything you need and more! The whole experience is fabulous and highly recommended!
