Advantages: Well priced shops, plenty of choice for entertainment and eating.

Disadvantages: Walls a bit thin!

Stayed here on my first visit to Vegas and have to say it was like no other hotel I had ever seen. The hotel is totally Egyptian themed inside and out, and has some huge public areas. The light on top of the pyramid can be seen from space.

The strip (where the majority of hotels are) is only a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport, so before you know it you are at your hotel, which when you have been flying for hours is a real bonus.

Vegas hotels are all resorts unto themselves and as you will be told frequently when you are there - there is no where else like Vegas! The foyer, which is Egyptian themed complete with animated camel is very impressive and massive. We had no problem checking in, although I had read many reviews on Vegas hotels where this seemed to be a problem, I guess it depends how many flights have come in - though they are constant and you will see planes stacking up in the sky.

We stayed in a tower room and had a family room as we were 2 adults 2 children. The room was a good size and we had plenty of space, it was also clean and comfortable. We had a mountain veiw which was lovely, we could also see a motorway which was busy 24 hours a day. The ensuite was well equiped with a large bath and large separate shower. Considering the size of the hotel (when we stayed I think there was around 4000 bedrooms) the housekeeping was excellent.

The tendancy in Vegas hotel rooms is not to provide you with anything in the way of drinks, snacks etc as they want you in the casinos, restaurants and shops spending all your money. There were several vending machines for soft drinks and water near the elevators on each floor and these were reasonably priced. You also only stay on a room only basis as you have a huge choice of restaurants, shops and entertainment in the hotel. You can also eat in any hotel as you are paying as you go and this is a great way to go visiting all the hotels. They are more than happy to have you in as it is all about parting you from that hard earned cash.

The hotel is linked by a monorail to the Excaliber and Mandalay Bay. The Excaliber looks like a Lego castle and is themed around Arthur and Camelot, they even have jousting. Mandalay Bay is a bit more upmarket and not so aimed at families but is lovely, it is also linked by a shopping centre which has lots of restaurants also. Both hotels also have theatres with various shows.

The pools were lovely, though it is pretty hot outside they do provide a lovely area to catch some sun. There is also a spa in the hotel if you fancy being pampered.

The breakfasts here were good value with the typical Vegas massive choice - you can eat until you drop! We did not eat any other meals here as there is just so much choice and you should really try as many places as possible. The Stratosphere does a very reasonable Champagne Sunday brunch and the MGM a really good evening buffet.

This is a great hotel for families and offers good value. We really enjoyed our stay here and the only negative thing we could have said was the walls were rather thin, especially if you have enthusiatic neighbours as we had!!!!!

If you are looking for a mid range hotel, this is great. If you are on a special trip and want to go a bit more upmarket try the Wynn, it was fabulous but a lot more expensive (I hope to review it if they will put it on the site). If you want to test it out go there for a meal, they do a lovely more upmarket breakfast buffet. However if you are travelling as a family or want to keep your cash for spending this hotel should be just fine.

Summary: Well themed hotel offering good value.
