Advantages: Beautiful hotel, right on the River, not too expensive

Disadvantages: Quite far out

We loved the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa. Located quite far out of the city on the other side of the river it feels like an escape from the hustle & bustle. Don't be put off by the location, the hotel runs a 'shuttle boat' service across the river every 15 minutes that connects to the SkyTrain station, allowing access to all major attractions in the city. The rooms are large & spacious, decorated in traditional Thai style. The hotel is not high rise like many in Bangkok and is more of a courtyard design. The hotel boasts a large pool area with lots of sunloungers and palm tree's. This is unusual for a city hotel, most have roof top pools the size of your bath! Because of the layout and facilities it feels like more of a resort style hotel, rather than a city high rise and was like an oasis. We did not eat in the hotel as we love to eat out, but the hotel had a few different restaurants and bars. You can also book a table on their Dinner Cruise along the river. All in all I would 100% recommend the Marriott and really could not fault it.

Bangkok is a city like Marmite - you either love it or you hate it! But in my opinion it's a 'must-see'. It's busy, big & bustling and is truely a city that never sleeps, it leaves you exhausted there is so much to see and do. The temples & Grand Palace are a 'must-see', and also a trip to the floating market. Shopping is fantastic, and the nightlife is excellent. There are literally thousands of bars & restaurants to choose from, suiting all budgets. There are also lots of nightmarkets lining the streets, and if you are brave enough a visit to 'Patpong' will not be forgotten!

Summary: Excellent 4* hotel in Bangkok
