I stayed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for 3 nights and 4 days in August 2008 and can honestly say I had a great time. Please let me warn you that this is a fairly lengthy review of my experience. We got a taxi from the airport to the hotel which cost about $7 which works out at less than £4. The first thing you notice about stepping out of the taxi and into the hotel is the fabulous air-conditioning. Vegas in August is VERY hot, well over 40o Centigrade! So it's really a relief to get out of that heat into the fabulously spacious lobby of the MGM and feel cooler straight away. On stepping inside the hotel (if you arrive by car) you are greeted by ... My husband and I have just gotten back from a trip to Las Vegas and chose the MGM hotel to stay at so this forms my review. The MGM is located right on the strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) right by Tropicana Avenue so fairly near one end of the strip. It is located close to the New York New York hotel and there is actually a walkway which joins the two hotels to give you easy access to both. The hotel in its present form was opened at the end of 1993. Most of the hotels in Las Vegas have a certain them that they like to promote through each of their casinos such at NY NY, Paris, The Venetian etc. The MGM in my opinion is not as heavily themed as the other ... I am surprised by how complimentary many of the reviewers are on this site about the MGM Grand. I can only presume they are easily pleased. You should look on Tripadvisor for a better balance of views. My initial experience was a 40 minute queue, which is never welcome after a transatlantic flight. Then my experience was as follows (I have also posted this on Tripadvisor); We checked in which felt pretty painless, Then we walked through the casino got the lift up to the 12th floor and walked past 39 rooms until we arrived at ours. After this walk we are truly shattered and ready to rest. When we open the room we are greated by the ... Read the complete review

We stopped at the MGM in June 2004 for 3 nights - it wasn't long enough & we very impressed. My other half wasn't keen on going to Vegas, but as it was a mates wedding out there, we had to go.... so, she insisted that we stay at a 'nice hotel' hence the MGM However, for nice, don't read expensive - we paid £237 for 3 nights, and you can probably get it cheaper than that. Bear in find it's a good 4 start hotel, and it becomes good value for money. The location is spot on - 5 minutes from airport, and right on the strip - you can easily walk to most major sights on the strip. The size of the place is overwhelming; ... Read the complete review

Visited Vegas for the first time back in December 2000 and had the pleasure of staying at the MGM Grand. After having visited most of the other hotels on the strip, I must say that with the MGM Grand you've got it all and a whole lot more. This is the largest hotel in the world with a casino the size of two football pitches. (but don't let that put you off) After a day or two it's all very easy to navigate and its size doesn't detract from it's overall splendour. We stayed in a Grand Tower room overlooking the mountains. The rooms were amazing. Very large bathrooms with all the mod-cons you'd expect from a 4* hotel. ... Read the complete review
