Advantages: Biggest and the Best

Disadvantages: Very large Casino - Lots of Walking

Visited Vegas for the first time back in December 2000 and had the pleasure of staying at the MGM Grand. After having visited most of the other hotels on the strip, I must say that with the MGM Grand you've got it all and a whole lot more.

This is the largest hotel in the world with a casino the size of two football pitches. (but don't let that put you off) After a day or two it's all very easy to navigate and its size doesn't detract from it's overall splendour.

We stayed in a Grand Tower room overlooking the mountains. The rooms were amazing. Very large bathrooms with all the mod-cons you'd expect from a 4* hotel.

Being the biggest on the strip means that the MGM has attempted to cater for all. In this hotel you'll find the greatest selection of restaurants (over 15) with a lovely Buffet restaurant too-boot. As for the decor....well it's Grand! Just visit the main lobby and you'll understand exactly what I mean. It's vast, with Marble, crystal and golden luxury welcoming all visitors.

The staff and room service were superb. Extremely helpful - nothing was ever too much trouble. You honestly will feel very pampered!

Another reason why you should choose the MGM is that it provides great FREE transportation to the other hotels on the strip. It's has its own monorail running directly to Balley's in the centre of the strip and also has a direct footbridge over to the New York - New York, and Excalibur, where yet another Monorail will take you directly to the Luxor and the beautiful Mandalay Bay hotel. So all free monorails terminate at or near the MGM.

My only bit of advice, is watch what time of the year you choose to visit. Try and go off peak for the best prices. December (believe it or not) is the best time to go. The climate is temperate but not cold, the crowds are at home and the place is a lot less mad. Be warned, the temperatures and crowds in the sum
mer are nothing less than stifling!!

If you can't book at the MGM then these hotels were also very nice:

Mandalay Bay - New and very beautiful (tropical)
Bellagio, Paris, Ceasars Palace, Ballys

Hope you have a great holiday...

Mark x

I liked MGM too, great locality and entertainment. Did you go on "Skyscreamer" in their theme park?
