Not a bad hotel and great location (Montechoro Hotel Albufeira)

Advantages: Very handy and clean

Disadvantages: Decor a bit old fashioned

I stayed at the Hotel Montechoro for a week in August 2008 and got a pretty good deal booking it directly myself on the internet and booking my flights separately. The hotel is in a good enough location, right at the top of the Montechoro strip which is very handy, yet out of the way enough of all of the late night partying coming from the strip. Walking back up the hill to the hotel in the heat after a long day at the beach can sometimes be a bit of a chore but it's not too bad. The hotel on the whole was very clean with the beds and towels changed every day. The only downside is that it could do with being re-decorated as the decor is very 1970ish and like something out of the Stephen King film The Shining with pretty nasty stained red carpet on the floors and similarly nasty red curtains! However, for the length of time spent in the hotel its bearable! The pool is also decent enough and its a good hotel for those with families and plenty of entertainment during the day for kids. Good views from the hotel also.

Summary: Good value for money hotel in a decent location
