Good and relatively cheap (Novotel New York)

On a trip to new york last spring to enjoy the strength of the £ against the dollar - my that was a well timed trip - I was looking for somewhere to stay for me and my sister that was central, clean and nice and not too expensive - all the more money for shopping! I discovered the novotel offer which had a "hot deals" offer on at the time which made it c. £100 a night much less than similar hotels round the times square area.

Times Square

Be aware if this your first time to new york that "times square" description is not for a small area of new york but actually means anywhere within a good 10 mins walk of times square... but this hotel was good and centrally located.

Room

The room was clean and spacious and the bathroom was nice and clean. It was not exactly what I would describe as 4 star probably 3 but was fine for what we wanted.

The staff

This is what let the hotel down for me..
Everymorning despite putting a do not disturb notice up the cleaning lady would come bursting in at c. 8:30 - yes we were having a lie in!!

I even complained at the desk but to little avail it happened again
When I went to complain at the front desk they went to get the manager who wanted to know what was wrong with the cleaners just coming in and then just walked off - not great customer service!

BReakfast

BReakfast in the hotel was about $20 per person which seemed a bit steep - there is a great cafe across the street where you can get a full american breakfast with singing - all the waiters are budding broadway actors - which is excellent.

All in all if you get a good offer a great place to lay your head!
