Stayed here for 2 nights in April. There are mixed reviews on the Holiday Inn and I was a bit nervous about staying here. Upon arriving early, the hotel stored our bags and offered to ring me when the room was ready. I politely asked if we could have a room with a view, but this was not expected as we hadn't paid extra for this and our room was a cheap £60 twin. When we opened our door, nothing could prepare us for the view, we were literally in front of the opera house. Some of the furnishings were a bit dated in the room, as were the fittings in the bathroom but it was clean and the surrounding area more than made up for this. Also, the rooms are massive! The hotel is in 'the Rocks' which is one of the nicest areas of Sydney with some nice restaurants and an open air market which we went to. The hotel rooftop pool offers some of the best views of Sydney, although as it decided to rain during our time in Sydney, we didn't use the pool. At £60 a night, this was cheaper than some of the private twin rooms in a hostel in Kings Cross, a somewhat dodgy area of Sydney. Keep an eye out for bargains on the internet, but don't pay over the odds.
