Advantages: Situation, Price, Great manager etc
Disadvantages: Noisy, Poor furnishings, Cheap cocktails !
Have just spent 2 weeks in these apartments & I'm surprised we lasted 24 hours. Our apartment was really tatty, equipment poor and old. Built in the original car park is The Ghetto bar - a magnet for all karaoke enthusiasts on the island and which really hotted up around midnight. The phrase – ‘cats on heat’ comes to mind! Despite all the above we stayed and had one of the best holidays for years. Here are the plus points - Adam and Marianna - husband and wife managers with a zest for life and Adam’s sense of humour was a joy. He seemed to work an average 20 hour day although we suspected he went for a nap in the afternoons! He also makes the best cocktails that I have tried but they are possibly too cheap – as I found on the day we left after indulging in one too many. The apartment was spotless - the cleaners were very thorough. The meals cooked by Marianna were brilliant - ample portions, cheap and her "English breakfast" was the best according to my husband who sampled it every day! The pool also was clean although the steps were in need of repair . We got the impression that because of the noise from the bar the apartments had been allowed to deteriorate as more income came from the bar than the lettings. This is such a shame as the position was ideal, right on the main street near all the restaurants and shops , but, best of all just across the road from the beaches including Fig Tree Bay. If you go to this area do check where your hotel is - several were a long way from the main street - quite a hike especially in the heat. We prefer to be within easy access of the bars and beaches etc. but if solitude and quiet is your thing - I would not sugest Protaras. Thanks to Adam and his wife we really enjoyed our holiday which just goes to prove that people are as ,if not more important than the accommodation and if they are still there in October we hope to return.
r>P.S he was also very handsome - shame that I am an old granny.

- 14/05/01 Good op - the important thing on holiday is just get on with it and enjoy yourselves. So often I've been on holiday and heard people complain about this and that and more - sometimes it is important stuff, but often just trivial. That cupboard door may stick a little, that window may have a crack in it, the paint may be in need of a redo, but youre on holiday and it's the people you are with and YOUR OWN ATTITUDE that makes or breaks a holiday (and the weather of course. Glad you had such a good time despite the probs - others would have just moaned and that would have ruined two hard earned weeks of holiday wouldnt it? |
