Advantages: Lovely, spacious apartment. Good value for money
Disadvantages: Located next to a dogs home!!
We stayed in the Paradise Gardens Three apartments in Paphos, Cyprus 2 weeks ago. There are four separate Paradise gardens complexes, all located close to each other. My mother discovered these apartments online via their website, a one bedroom apartment cost £300 for a 2 week stay, myslef, husband and baby stayed for the first week , my Mum and Dad then stayed for a further week afetr us - http://www.apartments-paphos.co.uk/paradisegardens .htm
These apartments are in an ideal location to where all the main tourist parts are and is just a 15 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk to the heart of Paphos and the harbour. The complex is a lovely built set of apartments and villas. It is very clean and well kept, we saw people out by the pool early every morning cleaning the sun beds and cleaning the area, so it was very well looked after.
The apartment we stayed in was a one bedroom studio apartment, but it did have two sofa beds in the large living room so could sleep upto 6 people. As we walked in there was a small kitchen to the right with a breakfast bar. Although it was small it had everything that we required, including a washing machine, a dishwasher, a large fridge freezer, plenty of crockery and pans, an oven with a gas hob and a microwave, so there was everything we required for our week long stay.
To the left was a small corridor where you could find the bathroom, this was lovely and clean, with white tiles over all the walls and floor. It had a bath with a shower over it and just the one sink and toilet; again it was quite compact but had everything we required.
Opposite the bathroom was the main bedroom, this had a double bed and plenty of storage space. There were two large wardrobes, two bedside tables, a large dresser and there were even drawers underneath the bed, so all in all there was plenty of storage for our clothes and my parents' clothes. There was a large window with a shutter that completely blocked out the light, this was ideal for us as then my son wouldn't wake up the minute the sun rose!!
The lounge was very spacious and had a table and four chairs in it, in case you wanted to dine at the apartment. As previously mentioned it had two large sofas' that converted into beds. My Mother and Father had the pull out sofa bed as we had our son with us and had to have the bedroom as the cot was in there (what a shame that was for us, not!!) My Mum said that the mattress on the pull out bed was very thin and uncomfortable so they had to also take the mattress from the other pull out bed and put this on top, she then said it was quite comfortable. There was a TV in the apartment, unfortunately it didn't have an aerial so we couldn't watch normal television, however they did provide a DVD player and quite a few DVD's so we could watch these, alternatively we also took a few of our own to watch.
There was a very large balcony; this also had a table and four chairs so you could dine in the open air. The chairs also reclined, so you could use them for sunbathing. We were very lucky in the fact that we got an end villa on the top floor; therefore we had the sun on the terrace all day long from sunrise to sunset!! So any day that we didn't fancy sitting by the pool we could sunbathe on the terrace.
There was air conditioning in the living room and bedroom, this was very effective and sometimes got too cold, especially for my 6 month old son, so we only really had this on for short periods when it got very hot.
There were two pools that we were able to use; one was a small children's pool, which was lovely for taking my son in. The other was a large pool for anyone to use. Neither of them was heated so although they were in the sun the water was still very cold!!
All in all we really liked this apartment, however there was one thing that would put me off staying here again, it was located right next door to a dog and donkey sanctuary!! Whilst the donkeys weren't a problem, the dogs woke us up early every morning barking!! I must say that as the week drew on I did get kind of used to the noise so it didn't bother me as much, but the first morning I was awake with the noise from around 5am!!! We couldn't complain about this as they did warn us prior to our arrival, I suppose we didn't really think it would be as bad as it was!!
The only other problem was that whist we were there, which im sure has been fixed now was that they had a problem with the pool. There was some sort of problem with the filter and the water was a murky green colour for most of our stay. It was still safe to use but I have to admit that the colour of the water did put us off slightly and I definitely didn't want to take my 6 month old son into it!!
If it wasn't for the above two points I would definitely stay here again, I think next time I may stay in one of the other Paradise gardens complexes, the one that is furthest away from the dogs!!
Summary: If it wasnt for the barking dogs i would definately go back.
