Disadvantages: Small rooms

This is one cool hotel! You're greeted at the entrace by hotel staff who are all obviously working here while they get their modelling/acting careers off the ground, I've never seen so many pretty people carrying suitcases before! Despite their looks, service is good, and not as 'artifically friendly' as you usually get in the US ("Have a Nice Day" - ugh).

The hotel itself looks fairly nondescript from the outside, but inside the Phillipe Starck designed interior has a large, moodily lit lobby area, once again with lots of beautiful people hanging around. Attached to the lobby is 'the Whisky Bar' - very trendy, although I was told its not the hot place to be seen it once was.

The best bit about the hotel is the rooms; first of all, they are NOT large (not even by non-US standards), but they look great, and are apparently all different. Mine was all white with a futon style bed (but comfortable) and its own hi-fi, tv and video. The bathroom was brushed aluminium and green glass, and I wanted to take it home with me.

Can't comment on the restaurant as I didn't eat there (it's supposed to be good). Pricing was reasonable for this type of hotel (about $200 for a hotel less than five minutes from Times Square IS good value), and the design alone is worth the money after endless dreary Marriotts and Intercontinentals.
