Advantages: Central Location 5mins from Oxford Street, Very Comfortable

Disadvantages: Could be Pricey, No warning about club Room breakfasts

I usualy couple business trips with a few days holiday on the back, long weekends that sort of thing.
I'd decided to book into Le Meridien Grovesenor House on Park Lane, as i'd stayed with the same chain out in the middle east, and found them exemplary.
As is my weakness, i'd opted for the Royal club rooms, a sort of executive/business class offering which as it's own reception and lounge on a reserved floor, complimentary papers, drinks and breakfast slightly better furnished, larger rooms.

Sadly, this was the first failing of the hotel. I'd specifically asked for a double/kingsize bed. the hotel placed me in a room with two singles. I contacted the reception and, after apologising, they said i could either wait for one to come available, or there was a room vacant on a another non-club floor.
Given that i had just crossed London in peaktime, fully suited up with my laptop and luggage, i accepted the vacant room.

It was a little smaller, and the decor was a little more traditional - warm beiges, dark red throw cushions, dark wood draws and so on, rather than the 'contemporary cool' colours of the club room.
The bathroom was a good deal smaller, but adequate. My one complaint is that the shower screen is one of those fixed, solid affairs. It looks fantastic, but it's woefully short and the tiled floor can be very slippy after a shower, with all the water sparying out over it.

Bed linen and comfort where supreme, lighting was unobtrusive - very much a relaxing environment. The air con system could do with an overhaul though - it never seemed to chill the room sufficiently, though that could just be me.

This was an inside room, so the view out of the full length windows was of things like vents, roofing for lower levels - not a look out over Park Lane. thankfully, net curtains shield you from it.

I enjoyed Le meridien, and the price is pretty reasonable for what is a cent
ral london 4 star establishment (it was a special offer, they usually run several).

The staff were helpful and discreet, leaving you to your own devices unless you approached them, which i like when i'm trying to unwind.
The one thing i would warn people is that, if you go for a club room, be aware, the complimentary breakfast is continental, and served in the club lounge - i went down to the restaurant and was charged for the cooked breakfast (about £21). I would have appreciated it if the staff mentioned that small detail, as it's not mentioned on the literature in the rooms.
Rooms started at about £150, but can go a lot higher depending on what you want.
