... street - lots of marble, chrome and lights. We were expecting a budget hotel and we wondered if this was the right place. The budget aspect was confirmed when we got to our room. It was big enough for a double bed and that was about it! The furniture consisted of a tiny built in wardrobe, two fixed bedside tables, a double bed and a mirror! No dressing table or drawers. The bathroom was nicely furnished with a bath, a shower over the bath, toilet and wash hand basin. Plenty of nice thick towels and lots of freebie ...more

The Hotel Philippos is situated right under the Acropolis in the centre of Athens. As far as hotels go, you could not get any closer to the main attractions than here! In the British Airways Cities and Short Breaks brochure (that's who we went with), it describes the hotel as being excellent value for money considering its excellent location. When we went in March it cost £269 per person for two nights and an extra night cost £22. I should say that I won this holiday so I didn't actually pay these prices!
