Advantages: Very central to the Hoe and City Centre

Disadvantages: Dirty, smelly

Firstly I would say that it is not a "typical" product to review, as backpackers places are invariably different from place to place. I came into contact with this place when i was visiting a friend of a friend who came down to plymouth on her travels - and she was staying there a few weeks.

The hostel itself is situated amongst some very posh apartments and some very dire apartments on the world famous Plymouth Hoe - commonly associated with the photo of the beatles sat over looking the sea! The hostel itself is a 5 minute walk away from the Hoe and 10 or so minutes from the city centre - so definitely prime location to all the tourist places and hot spots.
However - the saying is very true - you get what you pay for. And I have to say the experience i got from the hostel was not a pleasant one. At times it was dirty and there were a few men walking around bear foot, food all over the main table in the living room - you wouldnt want to stay here too long at all if you had too! My overall feeling was not a pleasant one - i think if visiting plymouth this would ruin your stay and i think it is probably better if you stay somewhere else.

Summary: Not somewhere i am keen to visit again!

I think perhpas this catergory is not intended for reviews of the UK Plymouth as the heading says international.

The very fact that hostels vary so much means they are exactly the sort of thing that SHOULD be reviewed. Did you sleep in a dorm, ar there any private rooms? Triples, quads? IS there a curfew - this is something hostellers always want to know. Do they organise any trips? Are there cooking facilities? Bike hire? Internet facilities? What are the showers like? How much did you pay?
