 ... took the stairs up to our room. One of the most amazing features of the hotel is the main staircase - a looming marble structure that oozes class. We hired a £150 a night room - about mid-range, and were delighted to see a bottle of champagne and a chocolate cake on our bed, in respect of it being our honeymoon. For our honeymoon, we had enough money for 3 nights in a top hotel, and 7 in a hovel. We chose the Radission SAS as the top hotel, and boy am I glad we did. First impressions mean a lot, and there are two things you immediately notice when you pull up outside the hotel; firstly, the bell-hop doorman, straight out of all the movies you ever watched. The second thing is the fleet of hotel owned Mercedes' that sit out front and can be hired as taxis any-time you want (although they're 3 times the cost of a standard taxi). Finding a hotel in Prague is always a challenge – not because there are too few, rather because there’s too much choice and it can be baffling if you don’t know the city. I’ve been going to Prague since the early 1990s and have stayed in hotels ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous – some really grand (I particularly enjoyed sharing a fancy hotel near the castle with the Portuguese national football team!) and others barely better than a student hall of residence. The company I work for recently held its Annual Business Meeting in Prague at the Radission SAS Alcron Hotel.
