A good place to stay if you're in the Big Apple (Ramada Milford Plaza)

I stayed in the Milford Plaza when I was in New York for a birthday a couple of years back.

When we arrived, first impressions were good, the lobby is massive and looks very grand, you go up to another floor where you check in, again which looks very swanky and posh. I was sharing a twin room with my brother.

The room itself was very small, with not much room to move, specially with 2 single beds in there. The room was tidy and clean, so no complaints there and towels and soaps etc were changed every day which was good. The bathroom was quite small, and I don't know if this applies to all toilets, but the bowl in or toilet was filled about 3/4's with water and wasn't blocked. Ironically there was also a sticker telling us to conserve water!

The rooms were quite basic in terms of decor, and there was a tiny portable tv to watch. There was also a safe in the room.

To be honest, these things didn't really bother me as the room was only for sleeping in. The hotel itself is situated in a brilliant location. It's a 5 min walk to Broadway and add another 2 minutes onto that and you're in Time's Square. There were places to eat in the hotel but we didn't check them because we were too busy experiencing the sights and sounds of New York.

As far as I can remember, the price was quite reasonable for 4 nights, around £500 or thereabouts, so between 2 of us it worked out a just over £50 a night.

If you're looking for a cheap place to stay with a great location then this is the place for you!
