Advantages: Good price for hotel located on the strip, near monorail station

Disadvantages: Seemed dirty and in quite a rough area

The Sahara is a moroccan themed hotel situated on the north end of the main strip in Las Vegas. My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights whilst travelling the USA. I would describe the Sahara as a budget hotel offering cheap room rates whilst offering accommodation of the main Las Vegas strip.

The north end of the strip seemed rather seedy and more run down than any other part of the strip. The Sahara is quite an old hotel by Vegas standards and I think despite some updating over time you can still tell its old.

We found our room to be of a good size with a comfy double bed and large bathroom, however we both thought the room needed a really good clean & vacuum. Although the room had been cleaned we felt it just wasn't clean enough compared to other hotels we stayed in, even cheaper ones.

The hotel itself features a large casino floor whcih we did actually have a small gamble in. It had a nice atmosphere with plenty of drinks waitresses available.

The hotel also has a decent sized swimming pool as well as its own rollercoaster built into it. Speed the Ride starts inside in hotel and goes out around the front of the hotel with a few loop the loops. You can hear people screaming when you walk past the hotel along the pavement.

There is also a NASCAR (American Car Racing) Cafe and a Buffet. We ate in the all you can eat buffet and there was plenty of choice of dishes, drinks and deserts. The hotel also offers a few shows although we did not see any of these during our stay.

Overall the Sahara is a budget hotel located on the world famous Las Vegas Strip with good links to the rest of the strip. The monorail station is conveniently located at the rear of the Sahara which is a really good way to access the heart of the strip. (The Strip is 4 miles long and the Sahara is at one end).

Despite the price I don't think we would choose to stay here again. The hotel seemed dirty and in need of some TLC and the area around the Sahara seemed pretty rough.

Summary: Overall the hotel offer good accomodation for those on a budget however the hotel needs some TLC

I stayed here when I went - would've loved to stay in one further up the strip, as I was so impressed with poor little sahara I can only imagine how good the big boys are! xx
