Advantages: Cheap, quite good location
Disadvantages: Not as high standard as other hotels
The Sahara is a desert in North Africa for those uneducated amongst you. In the themed world of Las Vegas the Sahara hotel is based upon a kind of Arabian theme. For those on a budget, you can’t really go wrong with the Sahara. It’s position on The Strip is not so bad and the rooms are on the small yet clean side. However, when comparing Las Vegas hotels it is easy to become picky. In the rest of the world, the Sahara hotel would be excellent. But this is Las Vegas where there are extremely high standards set and which need to be kept. For me, the theme doesn’t work that well because it’s quite a weak topic – neither one thing nor the other. At the New York – New York and Luxor hotels you are left in no doubt as to the primary theme whereas at the Sahara you’re constantly deciding whether it’s magic carpets or camels. Also, the layout of the hotel is quite unordered and this creates an undesired effect. At the end of the day you won’t end up spending much time sitting in your hotel room. For this reason you shouldn’t be too selective as ultimately it’s only a place to rest your head for a few hours. If the place is clean and tidy, as the Sahara is, then you shouldn’t have any complaints especially considering the low room prices at most times of the year.
