Advantages: Close to main spots, quiet

Disadvantages: No lift in Annex

Santa marina Hotel is situated about 15 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco and a similar distance from Rialto bridge. Despite being quite closeto the main tourist sites it is in a very quiet area.

Access by water taxi is quite easy with a canal just at the back. However, acces from a vaparetto is much more difficult requiring strong legs and stamina. I would recommend the taxi for ease, and that you will get lost more times on your own. I have yet to find a full proof map of venice. Even the locals get confused when giving directions.

Room:
We stayed in the annex which was a short distance from the main hotel. There is no lift and we were in the attic. Some climb with heavy cases. i think a porter helped us but i stiil had to carry some of the stuff. The room was small and I thinks is featured on their web site.
Go to bookings and go to details of comfort in Dependance. The room was airconditioned with an en-suite bathroom. It was clean and functional, if not large. From experience of hotels in Venice this is common.

Food:
We only had breakfast at the hotel, which was buffet style and served outside which was nice. Loads of good restaurants around.

Price:
We booked the Hotel on arrival, which I assume that is why we ended up in the annex. However, it was very reasonable and under £80 per night.

Would I go Back there?
Probably not. I tend to book in advance and choose different hotels at a higher price
