Advantages: Quiet Location, Plenty of activities for children

Disadvantages: Rooms in need of updating

This hotel is located in Port Des Torrent several miles from San Antonio so is away from all the hustle and bustle and the busy nightclubs. For those wanting the relaxation in the day and the clubs at night there are taxis readily available and an hourly bus service which operates from just outside the hotel. This bus can get very busy though so be prepared to have to stand until you reach your destination. The hotel boasts sea views and is 100m from the nearest beach.

Entrance - The reception is friendly and welcoming and nicely maintained. It can get very busy during check in times and all the travel reps are located here also so there can often be queues of people waiting to book excursions. Check in is easy and you will be directed to where your self catering apartment or half board room is. The area is kept cool and is large enough to accomodate all the people during the busier times. There are clear displays of excursions being run and there are plenty of staff on hand to answer any questions you may have. The staff on check in were very courteous and helpful and spoke clearly.

Room - We chose the half board option when booking, though found that the room was no different just that they had put shutters across the kitchen and locked them which didnt look very nice, and I cant see what harm it would have done to have had access to this. The room was nice and spacious. though decor slightly basic and could have done with a make over and a lick of paint. There was a double bed and a sofa bed which suprisingly was very comfortable. There is a television and dressing table area and the bathroom is of a nice size. Again this could have done with a bit of updating. It was clean though which is the main thing. The walls arent very thick so we could often hear people coming back to their rooms late at night and conversations in the rooms on both sides of ours. We also had the good old knock and run game to contend with on one occasion, though this was just down to children not being properly supervised which you cant blame the hotel for.

Facilties - A lot of the facilites and activites at this hotel are aimed at children. Our 4 year old absolutely loved it here as did the many other children we saw. There is a large pool area with separate childrens areas although this pool is not heated which prevents a lot of the adults from venturing in. We visited in May so it wasnt the hottest time of year but the kids didnt seem to mind the cold. There are kids clubs running throughout the day along with childrens entertainment in the evening and a mini disco with games. There is a soft play area along with a larger adventure play area and the hotel is situated about a minutes walk from the beach.

Food - As I said previously we took the half board option when booking this holiday as it seemed the most cost effective thing to do as it wasnt much dearer than the self catering. The food was ok for the first couple of nights though after this became very repetitive, and trying to find something for our child to eat other than sausage and chips every night was a chore. By day 4 we ended up just eating out in Port Des Torrent where there is a nice selection of restaurants which offer good food at good prices. I think if we were to go again we would go self catering. There is a convenience store located just across the road so easy to buy food in and prepare yourself.

Overall - I didnt feel there was much for the adults at this hotel and the half board buffet was a let down. Our 4 year old absolutely loved this hotel though and seeing him have a great time made up for the small things we were disappointed with. You can get good deals to this hotel at very reasonable prices so I would recommend staying here if travelling with children, though for all girl/all boy groups and couples I would perhaps recommend staying somewhere different.
