... deluxe/standard room). As it was our honeymoon, we were due an upgrade, if there was one available; so we hoped for the best. I also sent an email to the hotel a couple of weeks before we were due to travel to let them know that it was our honeymoon. I received a reply within a couple of hours stating that they would do what they could - very impressive!

I used to be a travel agent, so spent a LONG time researching hotels for our honeymoon in Thailand. There are just so many hotels in Bangkok, it can be a little overwhelming at first and it's hard to know where to look. I soon learned that hotels tended to either be in 'the city' or 'the river' areas and quickly decided that we would be best suited to the hotels by the river. My husband and I were really keen to see what Bangkok had to offer, but really liked the idea of not staying completely in the hustle and bustle of the city (not for our first visit anyway). So, I looked around and the best deal we could get was for the Shangri La. It looked amazing on the website .. Read the complete review
