Advantages: Clean, comfortable and excellent location.
Disadvantages: Breakfast expensive, try and get a breakfast included rate
As did previous reviewers we booked this through Canadian Affair and thought we got quite a good deal this way. It was however on a room only basis, which was a bit of an error as breakfast was quite expensive to purchase separately.
This is a large, centrally located hotel which is what we wanted as we had not visited Toronto before. The staff were friendly and check in went smoothly. We had a lovely big room with a view of the CN Tower. The room was well equipped and to my husband's delight had a coffee maker with Starbucks coffee. We had no complaints with the room and the bed was very large and comfortable.
We ate in the steak restaurant which was lovely. My husband said it was the best steak he has ever eaten. I had the chicken which was lovely also. We had breakfast in their Bistro on Two restaurant and it was really good with a large buffet choice, but we thought was very expensive so did not eat there again. We also ate one night in their Traders bar which again was very good and the portions were huge, as it was quite late at night we could have shared one meal.
The hotel was very close to the main shopping centre and a short walk to the underground transport and also to stops for the hop on hop off tourist buses. The location suited us perfectly.
The ticket desk assistants were helpful and got us tickets for a show. We could probably have bought them directly from the theatre more cheaply ourselves, but we did get a discount but then there was a delivery charge for them to be couriered to the hotel - I did not see why we could not have just picked them up at the box office.
There was free use of computers and the internet in the hotel lobby which was very useful as we wanted to book accommodation at Niagra Falls. We did try to book a rate through the hotel as we were happy to stay at a Sheraton there but got a better rate online.
We did not use the pool which is half indoor half outdoor as it seemed to be busy quite a lot of the time with people who were there as large groups that were playing team games in the pool.
I would recommend this hotel for comfort and location, but it was pretty busy with a lot of business groups, conferences etc, but this did not really affect our stay. It may not be your thing if you do not like very large open public areas, but it is hard to beat for location and suited us very well.
Summary: Good base for exploring the city.
