Advantages: Excellent location, good facilities, $5 environmental support reward

Disadvantages: None that I can think of

I stayed at the Seattle Sheration for four nights recently and would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Seattle who wants to be in a prime location.

***Hotel***

The Seattle Sheraton is part of a chain of Sheraton hotels. It is one of the largest hotels in downtown Seattle and guests stay in either the Pike Street tower or the Union Street tower.

The hotel has a range of facilities including a conference centre, ballroom (it just looked like a normal hall), restaurant, swimming pool and gym, free internet and wi-fi, and a cafe shop. The swimming pool and gym are located on the 35th (top) floor of the Pike Street tower with views over Seattle. I didn't use the facilities but I did go and admire the view.

I didn't eat at the restaurant either so I cannot comment on that but from the menu left in the hotel room it appears to serve a range of food.

There are four internet terminals in the lobby. Guests can use this for free for 45minutes. Alternatively there are tables to use your own laptops in both the internet area and in the lobby.

The hotel has provided a computer terminal that is solely to be used for online check in to flights and where boarding passes can be printed out for free. I think this is an excellent idea and allowed me to check in for my flights and pick my seats in advance.

Staff at the hotel were most helpful and let me delay check out by an hour with no extra cost. There is also a left luggage service which is very useful.

As I stayed at the hotel in two blocks, I stayed at both the Pike Street tower and Union Street tower. The Pike Street tower is the taller of the two, but the Union Street tower felt more luxurious.

***Hotel Rooms***

My first room contained two double 'sweet sleeper' beds and was a spacious room. It had a tv, mini bar fridge, large bathroom, desk and chairs and basically what you would expect from a hotel. The room was very clean and all rooms have air con and heating.

The hotel offers a service where if you stayed more than one night, rather than receiving clean towels each day you could opt out and receive $5 to spend in the restaurant, cafe or on room service. I took advantage of this and bought breakfast in the cafe with the money.

Free newspapers were delivered everyday bar Sunday which was very useful for keeping up with events.

My second room had all the same facilities as the first but just felt a little more luxurious. The bathroom was larger and the facilities felt that little bit better than my first room. However, had I solely stayed in the first room I would have been more than happy.

***Location***

The hotel is located on the corner of 6th and Pike. It is opposite American Eagle Outfitters, Nike Town and H&M. It is less than a ten minute walk to Westlake Station which is on the light rail transit for the city and where you can catch buses. Next to the station is Westlake shopping centre so the location is excellent.

It is about a 15 minute walk to Pike Place Market and the more business district part of the city. Overall though the hotel is within easy reach of public transport routes as well as local amenities.

***Cost***

I booked my stay at the hotel through ebookers as they offered the best deal. This was approximately £100 per night. I think this is good value for money for a hotel that is rated four star.

***Overall***

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It is so well located and provided all the facilities that I needed. It is also a hotel that is suitable for all ages as I saw several families there.

Summary: An excellent hotel at a good price
