Advantages: warm/ friendly/good food and service/beautiful beach and grounds/ lots of wildlife

Disadvantages: cant think of any

What a wonderful holiday we had!!! I was looking for somewhere to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and came upon this completely by accident! originally I was looking at a cruise. Although we travelled at the end of January we both came home with a wonderful tan. The hotel and beach were better than the brochure, it definately didnt do it justice. The hotel was clean and the staff couldnt do enough for you. Although the hotel had quite a few visitors, we never really saw that many people in one place, exept in the main restraunt at peak times. I even had the pool to myself on two occassions.

The beach was beautiful white shimmering sand and the most beautiful clean water I have ever seen, Each day after high tide, the workers came along and cleared any seaweed that had washed up.

Most of our holiday was spent snorkling, swimming fishing and relaxing.

The gardeners cut down fresh coconuts from the trees for you to drink the milk and a dollar was always gratefully received!!! One of the gardeners told us that he works for 30 days for 12 dollars! They will often make you a hat from palm leaves and these are excellant, one visitor told us that he has had his for 4 years, mine is going a beautiful colour now.

When you visit, keep a pocketful of one dollar bills, they always come in handy!

The maids often make swans and fans out of your tails and leave them on your bed! I also got fresh flowers everyday! My husband even had a cricket made from palm leaves.

We both enjoy fishing and spent time on Hemmingway pier a short walk along the beach, and for the fisherman among you, there is Tarpon in the mangrove areas at the back of the hotel, Barracuda around the pier and other fish called Groncho's, which make a croaking noise! A dollar given to the staff in the restraunt buys you fresh CAMERONE(PRAWNS) for bait, so make sure you take you rod!!! Your wife can lay on the beach, so youll both be happy. If you fis
h at the back of the hotel after 4pm make sure you have your insect spray, my husband used two tins in two days.

I achieved a lifelong ambition whilst I was at the hotel, we took a trip to SWIM WITH THE DOLPHINS.This entailed an internal flight 40mins, lunch, swim with the dolphins and a dolphin and sea lion show EXCELLENT.

Others went to Tropicana show on the mainland they said it was excellent though we didnt fancy it.

Rendondo lake was worth a visit, as was the day on the catamaran. All the water sports were free (non motorised)

For you men, the good news is there was no where for the wife to spend your money, there are no shops like we know, except for the gift shops in the hotel, and the local craft people visit the beach bar each day with a selection of hand crafted items to take home as pressies.

Although female I found the Cuban Cigars lovely and wish I had bought more, especially now I know how much they are here!

If you visit the mainland on your holiday, take some small guest size soaps to barta with, these items are hard to come by . The hotel staff are better off than most, I even saw a man on the corner of the street repairing disposable lighters, so dont go with shopping in mind,.

If you like a warm friendly place, with beautiful beach, clear water, sun and peace this is the place to go! Look carefully and you will see all different coloured lizards, hummingbirds, land crabs and frogs in the banana trees. There are lots of eagles and flamingos.

It seems like a distant memory now, and we have only been home three weeks.
We came back to ice and snow.

We both loved Cayo Coco so much Ive booked again for next year already!!!!

Hiya welcome. I wrote the 'other' review about this place, and was curious to find out if it had changed in the 14 months since we went there, but I'm pleased to find it hasn't!
