Advantages: Good facilities

Disadvantages: Crap view from balcony

Studios Rena Valetta is a great place to stay when you are in Hora, the main city on the Cycladic island of Naxos because it is cheap, well equipped and in an excellent location.

When we stayed there we had just come from a terrible, terrible room just down the road at Studios Bey. I wish that they had a website so I could write how awful they were on Dooyoo.

Rena Valetta however was literally a breath of fresh air. We were shown to our room which had a kitchenette (a small stove and basic cooking utensils and a fridge), double bed, roomy balcony for two people, air conditioning, TV and an ensuite bathroom.

Everything in the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The view from the balcony was the only bad thing in the room as it was looking over an empty lot, but it was better than other balconies we had in Greece.

Everything at the place was painted in the typical white and blue, which makes it really nice to be in.

The owner is very reasonable with prices and this year (2009) there are hardly any tourists there because of the crisis, meaning you can drive a harder bargain. Though the official room rates submitted to the Greek government (which are displayed in the rooms) show 75 euros per night, we managed to bargain him down from 40 to 25 euros per night. I get the feeling that you could have gotten it even less if you stay there a week or more.

Down the street there are lots of motorbike and car rentals, some amazing restaurants (the best we went to in the country) and it is less than five minutes walk to the beach and the port/town.

Summary: Probably one of the best value places in Hora
