Advantages: Good location, Not your run of the mill hotel

Disadvantages: None

We stayed in this hotel last May as we were on a 20th Wedding anniversary trip and as part of this trip we were going to see The Cure at Red Rocks. The nearest town to Red Rocks is Denver.

I booked this hotel via expedia after checking their own website, as I found it was cheaper than booking direct. The room only cost £89 for a double room with En-suit facilities.

****Location****
The location of this hotel is great. It is in the heart of Denver but is on a quiter part of the road so you don't get a lot of traffic noise. The Hotel is only a five minute walk from the 16th Street Mall which is a pedestrianised road full of shops. There is a free tram running down this street so it is easy then to visit the many art galleries, museums and general sight-seeing opportunities.

****Facilities***
The hotel has a fun reception - as you can see in the photo above. This hotel is not normal in any way. In the reception you will find Wii competitions running, toys, games and books available for you to borrow .

There is a restaurant, but we didn't eat there as there is a bar at the top of 16th Stret which serves great food and there are a number of little coffee shops to stop for coffee and croissant for breakfast.

There is also a bar but we went into it and came straight out again as we were looking for somewhere to have a quiet drink after the concert and this certainly wasn't the place to go for that, even at 1.00 am it was buzzing - but as the bar is at the far end of the hotel and has its own entrance we weren't affected by noise in our room.

They were also in the process of building a health spa which I believe is completed now but wasn't open when we visited.

***Our Room***
We had a standard king sized bed, and a huge en-suite. The room itself was psotlessly clean. It had only been recently refurbished and so all fixtures and fittings were in good order. There were plenty of smellies in the bathroom and they were very good quality and replenished daily so there was always shower gel available.

There is also an i-pod docking station available in every room - ours was in the style of a VW Beetle. The hotel is generally a little quirky and you get left sweets each night - we had jelly beans and dolly mixtures.

***Overall***
Each of the hotels floors have a different theme - from the "floor of champions" (our floor) to "The big hair floor". Each of these floors has decoration to match and the lift also talks to you as you reach each floor - as you arrive at the floor of champions there is a fanfare and the big hair floor has Marge Simpson telling you your on the floor.

The decor of the hotel has a very 70's retro feel but is not in the least dull or tatty.

****My Opinion****
This was a great hotel to stay in - it was impossible not to come through the door and smile especially when you are going up in a lift that talks to you! Its making me smile now just remebering it.The staff were all really friendly and helped us enormously especially in finding us a car to take us to the concert and as we happened to leave on the day the state was hit by a tornado they also checked to see that the flight had not been delayed.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough - it is so different and fun compared to many hotels, especially as Denver is a conference Centre capital many hotels are just boxes for delegates to spend a night in rather than a place you want to spend part of you holiday in. The location is also great. One thing worth considering if planning a trip to Denver is that the airport is 45 minutes from the centre.

Do go and visit the web site - that is quirky and different too!!www.thecurtis.com

Summary: A great value, and quirky hotel

Quirky is something I like in a hotel. If I'm ever in Denver, I'll check this one out. Good review.
