Advantages: Excellent Value for Money, A 'True' 5 Star Resort, You will be made to feel at home

Disadvantages: Not a lot to do around the hotel

My partner and myself visited The Grand Resort (Hurghada, Egypt) in September 2004. Overall this is an excellent hotel and all you would expect from a 5 star resort.

The Hotel has Two huge Swimming Pools, one in particular taking form of a small lagoon. There is a bridge walkway to a small restaurant/snack bar in the middle of the pool which holds BBQ's. Sunbeds and Towels are complimentry. The Grand Resort is also situated opposite it's sister hotel, The Grand, where you have use of it's private beach and once again Sunbeds and towels.

The Food choices were excellent and tasty. There was enough choice for you to have something different every night if you wish - we did and we were there for two weeks ! A buffet style Breakfast and Evening Meal. Evening Meal choices would range from different fresh home made soups, to Veal, Beef, Fish, Lamb, Turkey. A Fresh Choice of Vegetables, Pasta and a noodle bar outside where you select your stir fry food which chefs will prepare whilst you wait. There was also a huge selection of desserts.

We stayed half board, and on average would spend approx £30 per day between the two of us on Drinks (Alcoholic also), and a lunchtime snack.

We stayed in a Deluxe Room. The Room itself was a very good size, including Mini Bar (Apprx £1.20 for a can of beer) The Room had a En-Suite, Two Wardrobes, Probably a King Sized Bed, Sofa, two comfy chairs. The Balcony was also a very good size and very private. The decor has an Arabian nights theme, throughout the rooms and hotel. We requested a high floor, but were placed on the Ground Floor with Terrace. We were informed that due to Health and Safety standards English people were generally placed on ground floors.

The Staff at the Grand Resort are very, very helpful and friendly. The majority of the Staff speak good English, however approximatley 70% of people staying at the Grand Resort are German.

Around the Hotel itself there is not a great deal to do, but if you are here to unwind and relax this is perfect. There are a few bars, and even fewer restaurants. There is entertainment at The Grand Resort, but we didn't really rate this too mugh - it's an aquired taste !

I would definatly recommend a boat trip out into the Red Sea. I am a qualified PADI open water diver, but was happy enough just snorkelling and freediving to approx 5 meters, taking some good underwater photos. My Partner was offered the chance to complete his PADI Open Water qualification, however this would take 3-4 days of your holiday so he choose not to, however for you divers out there, be assured, there is plenty of opportunity to do some diving, kit hire is apprx £10-£20. and for you who would like to complete your PADI it's definatly cheaper than the UK !

Overall, I would definatly visit the Grand Resort again, and was very sad to leave at the end of our two weeks.

Welcome to Dooyoo.

A few tips to get you started on the site: Although there's no limit on the amount of reviews you can post it's better to post just three a day then you'll find you get more reads. If you read and rate around the site you'll soon find out what should be included in a review plus you'll get known to other members which will result in them reading things that you post.

It’s always a good idea to write your reviews as though you are writing for someone who has never heard of the product, that way you’ll cover everything. Also it’s best to write your review in Microsoft Word and run a spellchecker before posting onto the site.

You can ask any of the guides for help with any aspect of the site and a list of all the guides can be found here http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/c ommunity/_page/advice_gui des/. They will do everything they can to help with your query.

Lastly you can sign up for your own guest book at http://www.crosswordcheat s.com/tooyoo/ where you can chat with other Dooyoo members.

Above all I hope you enjoy it here and have fun :O) Sara

And just where is this hotel? There's nothing in your review or the category that gives a clue as to its location.
