Advantages: Luxury at a budget price
Disadvantages: Staff running everwhere
I stayed in this hotel in March 2008. The reason I stayed here is because it was number 1 on Tripadvisor. It is very central and overlooks the Petronas Towers. It cost us £52 per night for a double room which is a steal for what you get. We got a city view room but for an extra £8 per night we could have gotten a Petronas Tower view (unfortunately we were on a budget!)
The exterior of the hotel looks like any other high rise hotel in Kuala Lumpur. When you go into the entrance lobby you are directed to floor 5, where the reception is. The check in was quick and the staff were very pleasant and explained about breakfast times etc.
The room was gorgeous and really spacious. They are done up in a modern way and the bathroom is really luxurious with lots of nice toiletries. It does feel as if you are staying in a luxurious hotel.
Facilities:
There is a spa and a rooftop pool. The pool has a bar and it turns into a proper bar at night time with a lot of young people congregating. I didn't try the spa but the pool was lovely. It was open air and had views to the Petronas Towers. It also has a jacuzzi and when you are sitting in that with a Bellini and looking up to the sky it feels great! Word of warning though, there are no barriers at the pool and it is easy to fall in. When we were having a drink there one night a chap fell in and had to go home! Have to admit it was funny but not that nice for him!
There is also a 24 hour gym although I was too busy eating and drinking to avail of that!!!
Restaurants:
There are also 2 restaurants - Gobo Chit Chat and Gobo upstairs. We ate in Gobo Chit Chat and it was really nice. I had a beautiful seabass. The prices are similar to that of the UK but with the room prices you can't really complain!
Breakfast was also served in Gobo Chit Chat and the choice was amazing. There was a great variety of things from omelettes to muffins. You could fill up for 3-4 hours on the food here.
The only thing that disappointed me was the service at the pool area. All the staff seemed to be running everywhere all the time and it made me jittery. But even though they were running around they didn't stop for long enough to get you a drink or food. Now I dont mind going up to the bar but when you did that they got offended and shooed you away so they could serve you!
However, overall I loved Traders and would definitely return again to experience the luxury.
Summary: Luxury, cenrtral hotel
