Whilst I did not stay at the Traders Hotel during my short time in Kuala Lumpur, I am able to review that which a large proportion of visitors to the Traders visit for; the SkyBar.

The SkyBar is a chic and modern bar on the 33rd floor of the Traders Hotel, offering stunning views of the KLCC complex and the Petronas Towers. It is both partially covered and partially open air, and boasts a large swimming pool in its centre (although it seemed seldom used by patrons of the bar). The SkyBar is perhaps the best place in Kuala Lumpur to see the Petronas Towers.

My partner and I arrived in the early evening on a Saturday night and were fortunate enough to be given window seating (on the condition that we were gone by 9.30). After 9.30 on a Friday/Saturday, you will struggle to find a seat unless you book in advance. We were fortunate enough to watch the sunset on KL and the Petronas Towers slowly light up, and the view offered from the SkyBar made it one of the highlights of our trip.

Prices, of course, are all relative, but even as students we found them reasonable given the SkyBar's status as both being owned by a large chain and a tourist hotspot; cocktails started at 30RM (£5-£6 depending on exchange rate) - expensive, but not extortionate. The snacks on offer seemed limited and expensive, but we decided not to indulge so they could well be wonderful.

Perhaps the one downside was the slow surface, but then, you don't visit the SkyBar to rush things, so this didn't prove to be detrimental to our visit. The SkyBar is THE best place in KL to watch the sunset and view the Petronas Towers; I'd advise visiting early evening (6.30pm) to a) get a seat and b) watch the sunset. Well worth a visit.
