Advantages: On the strip, cheaper than most other hotels

Disadvantages: Right at the Southern tip of the Strip, less 'classy' than other hotels

The Tropicana Hotel and casino is located on the South End of the strip and is by the Excalibur Hotel, MGM Grand and New York New York. We arrived around lunchtime and there was a large queue for check in and we were greeted by the noise of hundreds of fruit machines! The queue went down fairly quickly as all check in booths were open and we were dealt with in a friendly and efficient manner. We had our room upgraded as well! The walk to the room was quite long (not a surprise given the size of these casinos!) but it was easy to find. The room itself was a good size, clean and comfortable. However, there were mirrors on the ceiling above the bed - welcome to Vegas!! There are plenty of different machines and tables at the Tropicana to keep everyone interested. There are also competiotns on the entrance to the hotel for which I managed to win 2 tickets to one of the shows there! The hotel also has its own car hire desk, however the prices here are astronomical! We were looking for a car to explore the Canyons in and found a much better deal at a rental place on the strip. Tropicana is one of the cheaper hotels on the strip, but for a place to stay in this surreal city I can't fault it but be prepared for a long walk to the other more Northern strip hotels!
