Marriott Marquis New York ... am ashamed to say, at 29 years of age, I had never visited New York, but last summer my boyfriend treated me to a little American road trip of which our last stop was New York. When he told me we were staying slap bang in the middle of Times Square I squealed with excitement. And he wasn t wrong! The Marriot Marquis hotel is situated at 1535 Broadway, indeed right in the middle of Times Square. We were driving from Atlantic City and all I can say was it was an absolute nightmare to get to. Hotel and Casino New York New York (Las Vegas, USA) ... saw this hotel reviewed in a magazine article several years ago and was fascinated by it, so I knew exactly where I wanted to stay when we finally booked a trip to Las Vegas! As the name suggests, the hotel is built as a replica of New York city, complete with a little Statue of Liberty and mini Brooklyn Bridge. Its hard not to be impressed with the design of this hotel, even based on its novelty value alone. However it offers much, much more than that. Inside there is the obligatory casino, where pennies are spent and a few won, plus a whole array of shops, restaurants and bars plus a spa and pool. Holiday Inn Express Philadelphia Midtown ... directly, and initially paid, up front, for a 3 night stay. At £70 per night including breakfast (and a room that could have slept 4 people) it was, I thought, a pretty good deal. It was one of the cheapest options I found for my dates in Philadelphia, but I could tell the location would be ok, and the free breakfast - quite rare in USA hotels - sealed the deal. I was all set for a fabulous mini-break, but the weather had other ideas and my flight was cancelled due to an insane amount of snow over the pond.
