I was lucky enough to go on a university Geography field trip to New York. I can hear you all ask 'wheres the Geography in New York?' it's there i assure you. We stayed in the Holtel Wolcott for just under a week and i have to say that it was a really good place to stay. It provided us with beds and showers which were our only requirments. If you want a hotel that offers entertainment, a bar and food ect this is not the hotel for you but if you just need a bed and a place to wash this is a fantastic place. Having booked last-minute flights with Virgin Atlantic two friends and I decided to 'wing' the rest of the trip and sort out accomodation when we arrived in New York. Having ended up in the Hotel Wolcott, I can honestly say we couldn't have made a better decision. The Wolcott is almost unbeatable in terms of location. Situated on West 31st Street, a mere three blocks from both the Empire State Building(which you can see towering over the neighbourhood when you come out of the main entrance) and Macy's Department Store. Located in an ideal location in Midtown Manhattan (W.31st Street between 5th Avenue and Broadway), The Wolcott is a perfect base for a first trip to Manhattan, only blocks away from Macy's, the Empire State Building and the New York Library. Although not the most luxurious of hotels, the rooms are comfortable and provide what is needed for those on a budget, or those who would prefer to spend their money in Bloomingdales!
