Advantages: In the centre, Cheap, Very helpful staff

Disadvantages: The lifts!!, No extra facilities, Dodgy corner shop

I was lucky enough to go on a university Geography field trip to New York. I can hear you all ask 'wheres the Geography in New York?' it's there i assure you. We stayed in the Holtel Wolcott for just under a week and i have to say that it was a really good place to stay. It provided us with beds and showers which were our only requirments. If you want a hotel that offers entertainment, a bar and food ect this is not the hotel for you but if you just need a bed and a place to wash this is a fantastic place. I mean your in NYC you dont need to walk more than 200m and you will find a suitable club or pub to entertain yourself in.
The location of this hotel is fantastic. You are literally in the centre of New York. Its a 5-10 min walk to Times Square and just walk round the corner from the hotel and you will come face to face with the Empire State Building. The subway system is in spitting distace and offers a great way to travel as it is cheap and easy. We got a weekly ticket which was very useful as it let us truly expolre the city.
The only down point about the hotel were the lifts. We were on the 9th floor and unfortunalty the lifts didnt have a priority system. After a couple of days we learnt to leave at least 10 minutes to get up to our room. The lift had a tendency to go up to floor 7 and then go down to the lobby, then up to floor 8 and then down to the lobby again and then finally would arrive at our floor (floor 9). I can hear you all say 'why didnt you use the stairs?' Well that was the other problem. The stairs could only be used if you are going down, so even if you are on the 1st floor you are going to have to brave the lifts.
In summary it is a great hotel for those on a budget but if you have a phobia of lifts, this might not be the place for you. Good luck fellow travellers!

Welcome to dooyoo - quality first op.
I recommend reading and rating other peoples' opinions to get your name known and hopefully get some more reads.
