Staying in Hong Kong is cheaper than you might think! (Wesley Hotel)

I`m going to write this as a separate opinion, as well as one on Hong Kong in general, as there are very few opinions on hotels in various places, and independent travelers may find this useful.

My girlfriend and I traveled independently to Hong Kong and then on to China. I don`t want to re-write stuff that I plan to mention later, but we decided to pre-book our accommodation in Hong Kong, as we knew we would be tired after the 10 hour flight.

We, as well as everyone else we know, thought that it would be too expensive to actually stay on Hong Kong island, and that we might have to stay in Kowloon to keep within our budget.

To our surprise though, it cost just £22 per person per night to stay in the Wesley Hotel, right in the middle of the Wan Chai district! Please note though, that was the cost if booked from this end with Thomas Cook - it cost £37 pppn if booked when in Hong Kong.

The Wesley can`t exactly be described as the Ritz, but nor is it a dorm! It was clean and spacious, though basic, and the staff were friendly and polite. The bed was large and comfortable, and the location meant that we could comfortably reach all destinations quickly and easily.

All in all I can easily recommend the Wesley hotel to all types of travelers. If you want to throw your money away simply to buy a bit more luxury, go ahead - but I warn you, there are other things in Hong Kong that will be better off saving your money for!
